Why choose a surf camp?

Parents have all kinds of choices for kids summer camps.  These days, you can find everything from robotics and STEM camps to adventure or theatre camps.  The benefits of shipping off to summer camp are well documented across a number of fields, but how do you know you’re choosing the right summer camp for your kid?  With a flooded market abundant with summer camp opportunities, parents may take years finding the best camp for their kids.

As a native San Diegan, I have tried a whole host of summer camps.  These include a smattering of soccer camps, tennis camps, golf camps, baseball camps, science camps, sailing camps, and sleep-away camps.  Regardless of how many I tried, I had yet to find a camp that really met my expectations.

Campers go to summer camp for a variety of reasons.  To learn, to grow, to make new friends, and spend time in unique environments.  When I discovered surf camp, I knew that I had finally hit my stride.  Surf camp gives campers the opportunity to dive deeply into their independent surfing skills.  While many surfers take a self-taught route, surf camp gives campers a chance to improve their skills in a safe and supportive environment.  Through exposure and experience in the ocean, students are able to build the skills necessary for lifelong ocean-going.

But why take my word for it?  Research suggests that surfing and spending time in the ocean has an abundance of benefits from physical fitness to mental health.  In fact, simply floating in the ocean can have significant positive effects on your brain chemistry. Surf campers report that surf camp gives them a true sense of accomplishment and empowers them to improve their surfing skills.  So why choose a San Diego surf camp?  Surfing has the ability to impact our lives in so many ways and a surf camp is a fast track to these significant health and personal benefits.  So sign up for a surf camp with San Diego’s Surf Education Academy today and find out the real reason why you should choose a surf camp.
